21 Mar Why do we repeat Shanti Mantra for 3 times?
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
To Pacify 3 aspects in our lives-
AdiDaivik– God given. In other words- those invisible forces that act on us over which we have negligible control
Examples- Earth quake, Volcano etc
Adi-Bhoutik– Given by other men- circumstances- nature given, certain things around us
Examples- Covid, Pollution, Accidents etc
AdhyAtmik– Own creation- in ones own hand. Self progress. Physical and Mental wellbeing.
Examples- What you do to yourself
To draw parallel to a recent study, Professor Sonja Lyubomirsky (University of California) in her 2007 published book “The How of Happiness” elaborated our set points and circumstances in which we find ourselves, and how our intentional effortful activities have a powerful effect on how happy we are.
She defines these set points and their share of effect on our lives as follows-
In order to lead a healthy life, it is best to accept what happened to you, and be at peace with who you are.
Shanti Mantra repeating thrice is for cementing this concept on our minds
Om
Shanti– Pacify AdiDaivik influence- Let me be at peace with what has been given to me
Shanti- Pacify AdiBhoutik influence- Let me be at peace with what happened to me
Shanti- Pacify Adhyatmik influence- Let me be at peace with what I make out of my life
Next time you chant Shanti Mantra, be conscious of its effect on your lives
May peace prevail in your overall being!
Health is supreme Wealth
